State-owned power utility Eskom has recently outlined the significance of its Research, Testing and Development Centre. The company’s research output remains focused on creating and providing solutions that address South Africa’s key industrial challenges. Lumkile Nkomfe tells us more.

A recent tour of the Eskom Research, Testing and Development Centre in Germiston has provided visitors with an unprecedented, in-depth look into the advanced scientific testing, specialised engineering and rigorous quality assurance that keep the national power grid running. Addressing the significance of this facility, Eskom Group CEO Dan Marokane emphasises that the research and testing work undertaken here plays a vital role towards ensuring that the utility responsibly manages the energy transition.
